Following rules and regulations are in force that must be followed while visiting and using the library resources and facilities:
  1. Admission to the Library: All members of the Bodofa U. N. Brahma College and Guest members of the library shall be allowed admission in the library. Any other person with permission of the Librarian/Assistant Librarian may enter the library. The right of admission shall be denied to a person if in the opinion of the Librarian/Assistant Librarian, he/she is
    1. Of unsound mind.
    2. Intoxicated.
    3. Shabbily dressed.
  2. Entrance Inside the Library:Persons acquiring right of the admission as under 1. above, before entering/leaving the library shall
    1. Carrying library card is mandatory.
    2. Deposit all personal belongings; such as bag, umbrella, file, private books(s), etc. at the bag counter of the library.
    3. Shall allow the library staff personal at the entrance of the library to examine everything while passes in to or goes out of the library.
  3. Membership: The following categories of persons shall become members of the Bodofa U. N. Brahma College Library by default
    1. All the faculty members of Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
    2. All the regular students Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
    3. All other regular employees of Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
    4. Guest members.
    5. Provided that a person other then the above categories may be allowed to become member of the library as a special case on a request in writing from the person concerned. The decision of the Librarian in this regard shall be final. If a person is allowed to become a member of the library he/she shall pay an annual membership fee and security deposit.
  4. Rules of Lending of Books:
    1. The privilege of borrowing books from the library is restricted to the registered members only.
    2. Each member will have a Library Card according to the category to which he/she belongs to.
    3. The Library Card is not transferable.
    4. Membership of a student shall remain valid till he/she remains on the role of the College.
    5. The librarian may recall any book from member at any time.
    6. Loose issues of periodicals/References are not for issue except for faculty members for only 2 days.
    7. RENEWAL OF BOOKS ON LOAN: The books lent out to a member may be renewed provided the books in question is not reserved by other users.
    8. NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE: A No Objection Certificate may be issued to members only on returning all books borrowed and surrendering the readers ticket.
  5. Check out Limits (only books):
    1. Student: 2 books for 15 days
    2. Faculties: 7 books for 180 days
    3. Staff: 3 books for 15 days.
  6. Overdue Fine Policy:
    1. Student@ Rs.1/day
    2. Faculty Member @Rs.10/day
    3. Staff etc @Rs.5/day
  7. Loss of Library Card:
    1. For the loss of Library Card, the concerned member should file an FIR and immediately report in writing along with FIR copy to the Librarian.
    2. For issuing a duplicate library card, a amount of Rs.50/- will be charge.
  8. Loss or Damage of Borrowed Books: The loss of books borrowed by a user in his/her custody, the borrower shall be liable to replace the book or bear the cost of replacement. If the defaulter failed to replace/return the books, the following will be the charges
    1. Three (03) times the cost of the book, if the book is in print.
    2. Four (04) times the cost of the book, if the book is out of print.
    3. If the book of a multi-volume set is lost or damaged, the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the same on the above line.
  9. General Rules:
    1. All kinds of personal belongings except notebook are supposed to be kept in the property counter at the entrance.
    2. Silence is must inside the library.
    3. Mobile phone in vibration mode only is permissible.
    4. Member shall not smoke or spite in any part of the library.
    5. While browsing books, no book should be replaced by the user on the stack themselves.
    6. Books once picked out from the stack should be left in the reading table if not issued out.
    7. The physical condition of the book should be checked while checking out. Mutilation of pages if found is to be brought to the notice of the circulation in-charge. Otherwise, the borrower himself/herself shall be responsible for mutilation of the book if detected afterwards.
    8. Underlining, marking, folding of pages, etc. in the book is strictly prohibited.
    9. Upon any infringement of the library rules, members shall forfeit privileges of admission and membership of the library.
    10. The librarian reserves the right to suspend or delinquent membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
    11. The members caught tearing of pages/stealing books or otherwise mutilating books will be suspended forthwith from using library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against him/her by the college.
