Following rules and regulations are in force that must be followed while visiting and using the library resources and facilities:
- Admission to the Library: All members of the Bodofa U. N. Brahma College and Guest members of the library shall be allowed admission in the library.
Any other person with permission of the Librarian/Assistant Librarian may enter the library. The right of admission shall be denied to a person if in the opinion of the Librarian/Assistant Librarian, he/she is
- Of unsound mind.
- Intoxicated.
- Shabbily dressed.
- Entrance Inside the Library:Persons acquiring right of the admission as under 1. above, before entering/leaving the library shall
- Carrying library card is mandatory.
- Deposit all personal belongings; such as bag, umbrella, file, private books(s), etc. at the bag counter of the library.
- Shall allow the library staff personal at the entrance of the library to examine everything while passes in to or goes out of the library.
- Membership: The following categories of persons shall become members of the Bodofa U. N. Brahma College Library by default
- All the faculty members of Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
- All the regular students Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
- All other regular employees of Bodofa U. N. Brahma College.
- Guest members.
- Provided that a person other then the above categories may be allowed to become member of the library as a special case on a request in writing from the person concerned. The decision of the Librarian in this regard shall be final. If a person is allowed to become a member of the library he/she shall pay an annual membership fee and security deposit.
- Rules of Lending of Books:
- The privilege of borrowing books from the library is restricted to the registered members only.
- Each member will have a Library Card according to the category to which he/she belongs to.
- The Library Card is not transferable.
- Membership of a student shall remain valid till he/she remains on the role of the College.
- The librarian may recall any book from member at any time.
- Loose issues of periodicals/References are not for issue except for faculty members for only 2 days.
- RENEWAL OF BOOKS ON LOAN: The books lent out to a member may be renewed provided the books in question is not reserved by other users.
- NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE: A No Objection Certificate may be issued to members only on returning all books borrowed and surrendering the readers ticket.
- Check out Limits (only books):
- Student: 2 books for 15 days
- Faculties: 7 books for 180 days
- Staff: 3 books for 15 days.
- Overdue Fine Policy:
- Student@ Rs.1/day
- Faculty Member @Rs.10/day
- Staff etc @Rs.5/day
- Loss of Library Card:
- For the loss of Library Card, the concerned member should file an FIR and immediately report in writing along with FIR copy to the Librarian.
- For issuing a duplicate library card, a amount of Rs.50/- will be charge.
- Loss or Damage of Borrowed Books: The loss of books borrowed by a user in his/her custody, the borrower shall be liable to replace the book or bear the cost of replacement. If the defaulter failed to replace/return the books, the following will be the charges
- Three (03) times the cost of the book, if the book is in print.
- Four (04) times the cost of the book, if the book is out of print.
- If the book of a multi-volume set is lost or damaged, the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the same on the above line.
- General Rules:
- All kinds of personal belongings except notebook are supposed to be kept in the property counter at the entrance.
- Silence is must inside the library.
- Mobile phone in vibration mode only is permissible.
- Member shall not smoke or spite in any part of the library.
- While browsing books, no book should be replaced by the user on the stack themselves.
- Books once picked out from the stack should be left in the reading table if not issued out.
- The physical condition of the book should be checked while checking out. Mutilation of pages if found is to be brought to the notice of the circulation in-charge. Otherwise, the borrower himself/herself shall be responsible for mutilation of the book if detected afterwards.
- Underlining, marking, folding of pages, etc. in the book is strictly prohibited.
- Upon any infringement of the library rules, members shall forfeit privileges of admission and membership of the library.
- The librarian reserves the right to suspend or delinquent membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
- The members caught tearing of pages/stealing books or otherwise mutilating books will be suspended forthwith from using library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against him/her by the college.
